965 Shelby GT350R - Competition Version
Here is one of the most iconic cars of all time, the Wimbledon White
with Guardsman Blue lemans stripes 1965 GT350R. And yes, the R is for
race. These ponys where set up for road racing. The rear bumper is gone,
while the front end wears a special front facia with cooling ducts.
Even the rear windshield is special with a slit to let air out. The door
frames are special aluminum pieces, and the quarter glass covers are
special to the R model. The engine has a special air cleaner and valve
covers with long breather tubes. The battery has been relocated to the
trunk next to the large R model gas tank with a quick filler cap. The
interior consist of a special dash, racing bucket seats, fire
extinguisher and roll bar. The magnesium 5 spoke rims and Goodyear tires
help to keep the Shelby on the track. This version has extra graphics
to commemorate the 45th anniversary of the 1965 Shelby GT350R.
